Minnkota hosts India delegation at Milton R. Young Station
The power plant welcomed representatives of the DOE and energy industry officials from India for a discussion and tour of the facility.
Minnkota employees had the honor of welcoming U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) representatives and several high-level energy industry delegates from India to the Milton R. Young Station on July 13. The stop at the power plant was one of many on a tour of North Dakota’s energy facilities, with the expedition continuing to the East Coast in the second half of the week. The weeklong visit was an opportunity for the India delegation to learn more about the coal-based power innovation found in America.

At the Young Station, the delegation heard from Minnkota President and CEO Mac McLennan and Tim Hagerott, vice president of Generation and Development. Hagerott explained the unique nature of Minnkota and its power portfolio, including the importance of coal as part of an all-of-the-above energy strategy. The group also discussed the promise of carbon capture technology and Minnkota’s exploration of Project Tundra as way to reduce carbon emissions at the plant.

The DOE and India delegation were given a walking tour of the interior of the plant, as well as a BNI Coal bus tour through the neighboring coal mine. Before leaving, they presented Minnkota leadership with ceremonial Indian scarves as a token of thanks. Minnkota was grateful for the opportunity to share its story with the guests and create new connections with the industry across the globe.
