Minnkota leads July Project Tundra landowner meeting
The landowner meeting was one of several that have been hosted by the cooperative as progress on the carbon capture initiative continues.
More than 60 Oliver County landowners gathered in Center, North Dakota, on July 13 to hear updates on Minnkota’s Project Tundra carbon capture initiative. The invitees to the O.C. Saloon dinner and informational session have signed agreements with Minnkota to allow future carbon dioxide (CO2) storage in the underground pore space of their land, should Project Tundra become a reality at the Milton R. Young Station. If built, the carbon-capture facility could capture more than 5 million metric tons of CO2 every year.
Minnkota President and CEO Mac McLennan led the evening discussion, explaining a new opportunity for the project that could ultimately lower the financial and timeline hurdles the initiative has recently faced. McLennan reiterated that strong landowner partnerships will continue to be essential to the success of the project and spent time answering questions from attendees. He thanked the landowners for taking the time to learn more about the project and supporting the cooperative through the development journey.
